How can I confirm the transmission has been completed of SCSSR bit 2?

Latest Updated:09/11/2012

Question:

In the description and precautions on use of the serial status register (SCSSR) bit 2 (TEND) in the Hardware manuals, it is written that
"The TEND flag value becomes undefined if data is written to SCTDR by activating the DTC by a TXI interrupt. In this case, do not use the TEND flag as the transmit end flag."  How can I confirm the transmission has been completed?

Answer:

When the DTC is used, validate the TXI interrupt. It will be generated by the CPU after the DTC completes the last data transfer (this makes it possible to confirm the last data has been completed by the DTC). In order to confirm the transmission completion, it is necessary to clear the TEND flag and allow the TEI interrupt during the TXI interrupt generated after completion of the last data transfer. The TEI interrupt will be generated after the last data transmission has been completed.
