Problems with Slow Rising and Falling Input Signals

Last Updated:09/27/2017

Question:

Is there a problem if an input signal rises or falls gradually?

Answer:

Potentially. If an input signal rises or falls gradually, it is easily influenced by noise and, as a result, could affect a high/low level decision. Additionally, it is more likely to conduct a shoot-through current because the input level is floating at the intermediate position.

Although there is no specification, it is recommended to avoid slow rises and falls in input signals.
