Using Correct IP Addresses with NetX- are there limitations on what addresses I can use?

Latest Updated:10/04/2016

Question:

Are there limitations I should know about when picking IP addresses to use with my NetX designs?

Answer:

One thing you should watch out for is using private IP addresses in your designs where traffic is expected to go outside of you local network. A private IP address can't be used for external communication. If you use a private IP address you will get an error. For specifics on what addresses are private look here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_network

As an example, lets say you want to connection to a global network, and the cloud access is at (85.119.83.194) and with your board IP address at (192.168.3.127). You will get a failure because (192.168.3.127) is in the Private address space and (85.119.83.194) is not.
