FSPL Type01/DFL Type04 : What happen written/erased data if shut down?

Latest Updated:12/26/2014

Question:

I am using one of the following libraries for the RL78 family. If power is momentarily shut down while data in flash memory are being written or erased, what happens to the data in flash memory?

  • Flash Self Programming Library Type01
  • Data Flash Library Type04

Answer:

The values in the area where data were being written or erased become undefined.
In addition, even if the values appear to be as expected, the data retention period cannot be guaranteed for the target area.
If power is momentarily shut down, be sure to erase the target area before using data in flash memory.
