"When a program runs with microcontroller alone, it won't operate. "

Latest Updated:07/04/2013

Question:

I am debugging the RL78 family MCU in the CubeSuite+ environment using the E1 or E20 emulator. When a program runs with the microcontroller alone, it does not operate as intended.

Answer:

Check the following.

  • Is the load module file used at debugging downloaded?

Since the load module file used at debugging contains a processing program for on-chip debugging, its operations differ from the actual operations.

When confirming operation of the device alone, download the program using the Renesas Flash Programmer.

  • Has a reset caused by a RAM parity error generated?

Since the debugger temporarily uses RAM when a program is downloaded at debugging, the RAM parity error detection function may be automatically set to OFF.

As the default of the RAM parity error detection function is ON, a reset may be caused by a RAM parity error. If this setting is not intended, set the function to OFF.

For details on the RAM parity error detection function, refer to the user's manual of the device.
