In what way does the receive-action differ in continuous receive mode?

Latest Updated:09/22/2010

Question:

In what way does the receive-action differ when the continuous receive mode is or is not selected?

Answer:

In clock synchronous serial I/O mode, writing dummy data to the transmit buffer register starts output from the transmit/receive clock. Therefore, even when only receiving, it is necessary to read the receive buffer register and write dummy data to the transmit buffer register.
However, when continuous receive mode is selected, the transmit/receive clock output starts when data is read from the receive buffer register. Therefore, it is not necessary to write dummy data to the transmit buffer register in this case (do not write dummy data).
